  Gravity Falls

Est. 1867

You sighed. Of course this was where your mother would dump you for the summer.  And what a summer it would be; full of an aunt who doubled as a crazy cat lady (not that you have anything against cats) and a whole three months of absolute boredom working at the local diner.

It’s not like you had anything better to do. During the school year you attended a boarding school in the northern-most part of Washington. Being an incredible fangirl though, you were ostracized by the rest of your classmates. You had incredibly huge obsessions with [insert fandom], [insert fandom] and [insert fandom]. People just thought you were weird. Which you were, but whatever.

“’Bye, {Y/N]! Have fun with great-auntie!!” Your fashionable, high-maintenance mother waved goodbye from her brand-spanking-new red sports car. You waved back, trying to smile. When she drove away down the dirt road, you turned to look at your aunt’s kitty doorknocker.  You thumped it against the wood of the door, hard.

It opened almost immediately, revealing your disheveled relative.  She held a white Persian in her flabby old lady arms. The cat hissed at you. You frowned. Let the torture begin.

“[Y/N]! It was so good of you to come spend the summer. Come in, come in!” She stepped aside, giving you a full view of the tiny cabin. There were cats everywhere.  On the mantle of the fireplace, the kitchen table, even in the sink! The sickly-sweet odor of kitty litter reached you, making you gag.

“No… uh… no problem, auntie…” She shooed two tabby cats off of the couch that looked like it was from the 60s or 70s.

“You’ll be sleeping, here, okay? The bathroom is down the hall. The kitchen is there, and this is the living room.” She smiled, and you cringed inwardly at her crooked yellow teeth.

You dumped your [F/C] duffle in a corner near the couch and flopped down on it, then jumping up again just as quickly as an explosion of cat fur showered you. “Oh, come on! Gross…”

“Now, you can wander wherever you like, okay? Just be back in time for dinner.” She was oblivious to your furry problem, and she started talking to the cat in her arms. You scowled and began to brush uselessly at your clothing.

Eventually, you gave up on trying to rescue your outfit. Instead, you changed into a pair of black yoga pants and a big [F/C] shirt. After doing that you walked out the door into the fresh summer air.

The sun blazed down on the seemingly sleepy town of Gravity Falls.  Despite its lazy exterior, the interior of the town was riddled with mysteries and secrets. You strolled down the main street, humming a nonsensical tune. Various inhabitants of the town wandered about. It was quiet.

    The peace didn’t last long.

There was a distant roar, and it gradually grew closer. Suddenly, a rickety golf cart burst through a bush on the other side of the road. You shrieked and dove to the side. Some screams echoed yours and the stopped as the cart screeched to a halt.

You lay curled up on your side, shivering. When you looked up, a boy and girl about your age were standing over you.

“Are you okay?” The girl helped you up. When you nodded, she grinned. “Great! I’m Mabel, and this dope who was driving is my brother, Dipper.”

“A-ah… Hi?” You were a little flustered, but understandingly so. Tugging nervously on your [H/C] hair, you smiled hesitantly. “I’m… [Y/N].”

Mabel’s brother spoke up. “So, do you live here, or were you dumped here for the summer like us?” Mabel elbowed Dipper in the side.

“What my brother means is whether or not you’re spending the summer here.” You shrugged concomitantly.

“I suppose so…” You noticed Mabel’s sweater had the logo for [insert fandom]. “Ohmygod. You like [fandom]?!?!”

Mabel squealed. “You like it, too?! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” She grabbed your hands and you two danced around in a circle.

“No one at my school even likes [fandom]!” Mabel gasped.

“WHAT?! HOW -? WHY -?” You glanced at Dipper, who was slowly edging away from you both.

“Hey, where’re you going? Don’t I get to know the kid who nearly killed me?” You grinned jokingly. Dipper hesitantly smiled back, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Haha, sorry about that…” You disentangled yourself from your fellow fangirl and went over to the awkward teenaged boy.

“Hey, no problem, dude. It’s not every day I get to see my life flash before my eyes.” He grinned openly now, warming up to your fun personality.

“Yeah, I guess so. You never did answer my question though. Are you here for the summer?” You nodded, frowning a bit.

“My mom dumped me here with my great-aunt. She works at the diner…?” Dipper and Mabel both stopped in their tracks.

    “You’re related to Lazy Susan??”

“Yep. That’s Auntie Sue. I’m just glad I could get out of the house alive. The place is crawling with cats. And they all hate me.” Mabel giggled.

    “But cats love everybody!”

“Not these ones – they’re plotting to kill me, I swear.”

    ~*~

And that was how your summer at Gravity Falls began. Not so bad, huh, reader-chan? Anyways, you spent most of your time with the Pines siblings, finding mischief nearly everywhere. You were well aware that Dipper had a major crush on Wendy, the chick who worked the cash register at the Mystery “[S]hack”. Weird, but you couldn’t help but be jealous of the older girl. Like, she was fun and all, but you just couldn’t figure out why you disliked Wendy.

~*~ Crazy Mabel timeskip to about the middle of summer~*~

“[Y/N]! We’re gonna go to the beach tonight and camp out! D’ya wanna come with us?” Mabel practically screamed the invitation over the phone. You giggled.

“Sure, chica. Lemme get my bag. I’ll be over in a sec.” You scrambled to gather all the things you’d need for an overnight camping trip. ‘Socks, check. Sweater, check. Mr. Fuzzies, check.’ You mentally went through the list of stuff you packed. When you got to your old stuffed panda, you squeezed him tight.

‘Mkay, all ready to go!’ You grabbed your bag and made your way to the Mystery Shack.

You were greeted with Mabel’s usual rambunctiousness.  Dipper took your bag from you and you all climbed into the golf cart that had become a part of your every day life. Shouting goodbye to Zoos and their Grunkle Stan, you all were off to the Gravity Falls Lake.

When you got to the lakefront, you were rather surprised to find that it was completely devoid of human life. Usually, there were three or four different tents set up on the rocky sand, with at least one bonfire.  But, as you so intelligently noted before, there was no one else on the beach that night.

You, Mabel, and Dipper all began the not-so arduous task of rolling out sleeping bags and fluffing up pillows.

“Hey, guys, where’s the tent?” You were a bit confused. Dipper looked at you with an eyebrow raised.

“No tent, man. We’re sleeping under the stars tonight.”

“Ohh. Okay! This ought to be cool!” You grinned and flopped down on your [F/C] sleeping bag, clutching your precious stuffed animal to your chest. As you looked up at the stars, a chill wind gusted across the lake, raising goosebumps on your exposed arms. You shivered violently and wriggled into the warmth of the goosedown worm costume. [[That’s how I always think of sleeping bags. I don’t know why, though.]]

Mabel and her pet pig, whose name you could never remember, imitated you and snuggled into their shared hot pink sleeping apparatus on your left. At your right, Dipper, apparently unaffected by the cold, still sat on his sleeping bag, face tilted towards the sky.

A snore sounded. Dipper looked over at his sister and you giggled. Mabel was always the first one to fall asleep when you and the Pines kids had a sleepover. Bravely, you slipped out of your sleeping bag and sat facing Dipper, all the while crushing Mr. Fuzzies to your chest. You shivered again, and whished you’d worn something other than a t-shirt and sweatpants.

“So…” There always was this awkward moment when you scrambled to find something to talk about with Dipper.

“So… How’ve you been, [Y/N]?” Dipper mentally facepalmed at the lame question. ‘Lame, lame, LAME, dude!’

“Oh, y-y’know, going on insane adventures with you and your sister, nothing big.” Your sentence was punctuated by a gigantic shiver. You bit your lip as you did in rather awkward situations. You turned your gaze to the stars, occasionally glancing at the handsome boy to your right – wait. When didDipper Pines become handsome?!

    Slowly, it dawned on you.

You had a crush on this adorable, supernaturally-obsessed teen.

    Wow.

A burning blush spread across your cheekbones, and you let go of your precious Mr. Fuzzies to clap your hand on the sides of your face. ‘Please, please, don’t let him see it!!’

Dipper glanced at you as he looked out over the lake. He liked you. And not as a friend, either. He liked in the way you like someone you want to kiss. In the way you liked someone you wanted to be with. He sighed and full on turned to face you, only to find you staring at him, hands on your face.

“H-Hey, [Y/N]? Do you wanna go walk a bit? Just over to those rocks, I mean.” He gestured with a slightly trembling hand to a pile of boulders that you had dubbed the Pile of Deer Droppings; because, it did in fact, look like a giant pile of deer shit.

“Okay… Hey, Di-Dipper? Could I t-tell you something?” You looked down at your feet as the two of you began the short trek to the stone pile.  Dipper looked over at you, and noticing you shaking like a leaf in the wind, removed his sweatshirt and handed it to you.

“Here, take it.” You shook your head unconvincingly.

    “N-No, I don’t need it.”

    “Yes, you do.”

    No, I don’t.”

    “Yes.”

    “No.”

    “Yes.”

    “No.”

    “Yes.”

You stubbornly refused the warmth of his jacket, and seeing he had no other choice, Dipper Pines, who had never laid a finger on you, tackled you to the ground. You let out a surprised cry, which was then muffled by the dreaded, comforting warmth of the sweater. You both struggled for a good minute, but then Dipper gained the upper hand and forced your arms into the sleeves.

“Ha! There. Isn’t that better?” You nodded automatically, and then shook your head. Then, you realized how you both were positioned.

You were on your back. Dipper was on top of you, practically straddling your waist. Finally, it dawned upon you how very compromising the position was. A hot blush burned its way up your neck, over your face, and right up to the tips of your ears.

Letting out a high-pitched, “Meep!” you pushed your best friend off of you. Instantly, you regretted it, for, of course, you really had enjoyed it. Dipper awkwardly helped you up, apologizing profusely.

“Dips, it’s okay. I was just a bit… surprised, that’s all.” You both continued on to your original destination, reaching it as the moon reached its highest. Together, you climbed up to the topmost boulder, where Dipper sat down, pulling you down next to him.

“Hey, I-I’m really sorry about that, [Y/N]… It’s just you were cold, admit it.” You looked at him, and seeing his awkward grin, began to smile yourself.

“Yeah, fine, I was. So what? It’s just wind.” You playfully punched the boy next to you in the arm.  He returned it with a nudge with his shoulder.

With a sigh, you gave in to your urges and lay your head on Dipper’s shoulder. Said boy froze up, waiting to see what you would do, but when you didn’t move from your position, he carefully put his head on yours.

“So, what were you going to tell me earlier, [Y/N/N]?” Your eyes widened. You thought he would’ve forgotten about it.

“U-Uh… Say I like this guy. Hypothetically, of course! But… I was wondering… Should I tell him, or should I wait until he says something?” Dipper started suddenly. You like someone? Other than him? Oh, there was hell to pay now. You had to like him, Dipper, not some random dude you’d probably only talked to once or twice.

“Uh… You should probably tell him. I mean, most guys are pretty dumb. So… yeah.” He mentally kicked himself. He shouldn’t be giving you advice! He should be kissing you!

There was a pause, and he turned to look at you, fidgeting.

“Um… I sort of have the same problem… But not with a guy! Definitely not with a guy! I’m not gay! I’m straight as a ruler! Haha… “ He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, glancing at your [E/C] eyes, wondering how to phrase this.

“I like this girl, see? But… She… She likes someone else, I think. And I really want to tell her, but I’m afraid she’ll think I’m… Weird.” You smiled, hiding your hurt feelings. He obviously meant Wendy.

“Dipper, you are weird.” You laughed at his shocked expression. “I’m kidding! You’re awesome, and any girl would be lucky to have a guy like you.”

Dipper blushed. “Y-You really mean it?” You laughed

“Of course I mean it, doofus!” Dipper smiled.

“And to answer your question, just tell her, dude. Don’t keep Wendy in the dark.” Dipper’s eyes widened.

“Huh? What d’you mean, ‘Don’t keep Wendy in the dark.’? I don’t even like her! I like somebody totally different! She’s my age, fun, likes the same stuff I do, and even puts up with my crazy conspiracies! I don’t like Wendy, I like you!” After finishing his outburst, Dipper realized what he’d just blurted out. You, on the other hand, were frozen, eyes wide.

    ‘Dipper likes me? ME?! B-But…!’

Your thoughts were cut off entirely as Dipper pressed his lips against yours, briefly. He pulled back after a moment, taking your unresponsiveness as a rejection.

“I-I’m sorry, [Y/N]… I don’t know what came over me. You probably hate me now, right?” Hearing that shook you out of your stupor.

“Hate you? Me, hate you? Are you crazy Dipper? You’re the guy I was talking about! I like you!” With that said, you grabbed him by the shirt and slammed your mouth to his. Immediately, he responded, and your lips moved against each other’s until you pulled away for air.

“I love you, Dipper.” He leaned his forehead against yours.

    “I love you, too.”

If I was cold and somebody offered their jacket to me I'd probably tackle them and then steal their jacket.
